So never let it be said that I rest on my laurels or that I'm afraid to try new things. So January's challenge is to give a talk to young people about the wonderful careers within our NHS and me being me, I saw an opportunity a little while ago to sign up to Inspiring the Future to support us with this challenge so as usual I grabbed it. So tomorrow I take up my new role of Recreational Support Worker on the unit where I am based supporting people living with dementia, there's an interesting story behind how the role came about but I'll save that for another day. I can see great potential from this role, potential to make a difference to those staying on the ward, potential to engage with family or carers, potential to form partnerships to deliver new and innovative care but most of all potential to bring joy to everyone...

16 days to take up the challenge, procrastinating at the start in the hope of creating the right energy. 30 Day Challenge - July Well it's been a long while since I put virtual pen to paper to ramble for a while but there is a good explanation for this, on this occasion it also stretches beyond the usual procrastination that those that have been following this journey have grown used to. Describe your story ... I know that the Scout and Guiding Association offer an awards based program, could we not work with them to develop a Nursing Award as part of their program. This would allow us to share the history of nursing and show how nursing...

What if managers were to translate all the data that is now being gathered through the auditing process and translate it into a meaningful format for staff. Then the manager could present this data at staff meetings and allow the team to select an area to focus on and create the piece of work which will improve on the data set. Please add your story below:

Encourage staff to take up a volunteering role and embed this role as part of their working week. As nurses we all began our career wanting to make a difference and undertaking a voluntary role allows us to do that, having it identified as part of the working week will promote staff feeling valued for the difference they are making to others.   Tell us your story below ... I feel that my passion has been maintained over my career due to the different volunteer roles I have...
