Perceptions of Nursing and Midwifery

A photo of me Daniel Gooding

I love taking photographs. They tell so many stories. So, instead of sharing just one photograph, I am going to show a few photographs and tell short stories behind them. This photo was taken after a play in my Grandmothers church. I don’t remember much but I look dead pleased with myself!

I spent a fair bit of time around this stunning building, it’s an LDS temple, one of the most spiritual places I have ever been. Even though I am no longer Mormon, I still look and remember this place with such lovely memories.

Below is a photograph of myself and three of my colleagues whilst working in Exeter. The staff nurses in the photo are from Spain, Italy and Portugal. I admire them, they come from across the continent, leaving their families, have to learn a new language and take care of our loved ones. I feel like the Western European countries nurse trainings is much more academic and the nurses come out with much more autonomy that those who train in the UK.

The final picture is of myself and my beautiful fiancée, both of us are fierce advocates of nursing. We are both proud of our highly skilled profession and are looking forward to getting married and a long career in nursing!
