Perceptions of Nursing and Midwifery

Inside My Work Bag by Rachel Megan Cotton

Wanna know what’s in my work bag? Take a look!

I always have teabags and crystal light packets in my lunch box… Other than that my bag usually has my stethoscope, a book or two – or some other project – for when it gets slow. Sometimes I have my badge with sharpie, highlighter, and light and my Vocera (walkie-talkies we use at my work) clip… I often leave those in my car. My phone, wallet, and keys of course are in my bag as well. At other jobs I used to carry penlights and trauma shears, but I don’t need them in my current position – there are plenty available on my unit.

As an addendum – I have a locker at work so I don’t have to carry everything each shift. The locker holds a spare set of scrubs, spare pair of Danskos, ibuprofin, pepto, lozenges, menstrual pads, pens… pretty much all my “just in case/be prepared” stuff lol.
