Health Education England are planning a marketing campaign that will launch next month to encourage consideration of nursing and midwifery degrees through Clearing 2018 and UCAS 2019.

We are looking for for any students in their last year of training or newly qualified staff in their early to mid 20s who might be interested in supporting this campaign

We are also looking for diversity in respect of gender and ethnic background. Targeting young men will be also be an important part of this campaign.

As well as stories websites, and possibly new videos, they would be the poster people for their profession in creative assets, social media posts, digital advertising, etc. It may also involve social media live chats eg on Facebook, Instagram, etc so they need to be happy articulating their passion for their profession across a range of media.

We are looking for expressions on interest over the next couple of weeks.

If you meet this brief, or know someone who does, please get in touch.

Many thanks

Darren

Thank you for tagging me in this interesting opportunity Bev, sounds like a great plan Darren and something that is needed as a matter of urgency.

Unfortunately I’m neither newly qualified or a student, and I only wish I was in my early twenties again but this project is something I would like to support as much as possible.

I am connected with a number of student nurses and also some newly qualified nurses who may be interested in participating in this.

It would be great if we could take this opportunity to celebrate the breadth of nursing through this and I am more than happy to add my voice that this as a nursing assistant who is working in mental health so please if there is any way that I can help please let me know.

I will share this idea with people I know who meet the criteria and let’s see where it leads.

Thanks again.

Thanks for forwarding this Bev. Hi Darren, my name is Richard and I am currently in my final year as a student Nurse adult branch. I qualify and start my new job in September, I am pleased you are discussing the importance of attracting more men into nursing and is something I’ve been focusing on with my university in Bristol, If you wish to discuss further I am more than happy to help in anyway I can! Regards, Richard

Hi Richard,

Many thanks for your interest. Great to hear that you have a job already as one of things we want to really sell is the employability of a nursing degree. Is a massive selling point for anyone considering university but most young people don't know and they have concerns around graduate unemployment.

Could you email me with a bit more information about yourself eg age, phone number, social media channels and anything else you might find useful? My email address is Darren.Aldrich@hee.nhs.uk.

Thanks again

Darren

Hi Darren,

I have now shared this idea within 3 different Facebook groups which I hope will generate some interest in this project for you.

I will also forward details onto the Comms teams within two mental health Trust's that I am connected with in the hope that they will be able to publicise for you through the different channels which are available to them.

Has a start date for the project been set as yet?

Thanks Tony. No set date yet but we are looking at May. Clearing opens in July giving us some time to start influencing choices.
