Moonshot for nursing

Nursing leaders need to act to empower the future of nursing by setting a moonshot  - Be brave - Be daring - Be digital.  This is a strategic move to inspire current and future potential nurses.  The moonshot needs to be taken from visualizing the future of health and social care.      

Too often we allow nursing to be talked down and it is for nurses and especially nurse leaders to ensure that we are part of new initiatives.  For instance nurses are some of the most innovative people I know, but currently are unable to access the clinical entrepreneurship programme,  This sends a strong message that innovation is for Doctors and Dentists who are able to access this programme now.

We need nurses in the digital academy and other great new initiatives in key strategic documents. How can we be part of the future of healthcare if we do not articulate our why?

This has been one of my frustrations since beginning my career with the NHS, I have challenged a number of different situations where training/development opportunities are only open to staff of certain grades. There are so many missed chances to develop people and ensure they feel valued for their contribution to the service.
